Jardin du Luxembourg

(7 Ratings)
Paris' most stunning park
Contains the impressive House of the Senate (formerly a queen’s palace), meticulously manicured gardens and topiary, leafy walking paths, pétanque courts, chess tables where classic elderly hommes play, and worlds more. There’s no better place to while away a Paris afternoon than right here, followed by some leisurely strolling in the surrounding gallery- and boutique-laden neighborhood of St-Germain-de-Près.

Beautiful park - but see it on a free Parisien du Jour tour.

Our PDJ guide was reluctant to take our euros, but he was such a great tour guide we had to show our appreciation (for good karma, too)! Go to parisiendunjour.fr/index.php?lang=en Parisien du Jour is the Paris Greeter organization, part of the Global Greeter Network - globalgreeternetwork.info

Best park south of La Seine in Paris

If you come from St. Germain des Prés and go south (uphill) or north from Montparnasse, a perfect break. The "pissoire" close to rue Vavin exit is a cruising area on week-ends, just by the boules playground. Nice italian ice-cream shop on rue Vavin, Amorino.
